Darlington Raceway’s “too tough to tame” track will be the site of the Royal Purple 200, marking the second year of title sponsorship of the NASCAR Nationwide Series Race on May 6, 2011. The exciting race under the lights will conclude a busy day on the track that will include practice in the morning and NNS and Sprint Series qualifying in the afternoon.
The Royal Purple 200 showcases some of NASCAR’s future stars as they test their skills on the storied 1.366 mile oval track. Darlington Raceway has a long history of featuring talented racers on a challenging track that easily separates the “good” from the “great” drivers.
Race fans will notice a Royal Purple presence on the track this year, with parts of the historic wall painted purple for the race. Additionally, renowned artist Kenny Youngblood will be creating a commemorative poster that will be sold at the event. All of the proceeds from the poster sales will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Tickets are on sale now, and can be purchased by calling the Darlington Raceway ticket office at 866-459-RACE or online at www.darlingtonraceway.com/tickets. If you can’t be there in person, follow the racing action on ESPN2. Please check your local listings for times.
