Houston Raceway becomes Royal Purple Raceway Jan. 1, 2011
This fall, Royal Purple and the Houston Raceway Park announced that the venue would officially become Royal Purple Raceway Jan. 2011.
Built in 1988, the Houston Raceway Park is the only major multipurpose motorsports venue in Houston. The facility features a dragstrip that boasts a three-story tower that incorporates 23 VIP suites, media center, and race control facilities equipped with state-of-the-art timing and scoring equipment. In 2000, a new world class high banked 3/8 mile dirt oval track was opened.
Houston Raceway Park enjoys an exclusive contract with the National Hot Rod Association to host a Full Throttle Drag Racing Series National Event within a 200 mile radius of the Houston metropolitan area. This fall PINKS All Out filmed on location and filming for The Forum Wars Season 2 presented by Royal Purple will be held in January. The track is owned by the Angel Brothers of Baytown, Texas.
Aside from naming rights of the facility the Royal Purple brand will be prominently featured on the drag strip tower and VIP suites at both racetracks and numerous signs and billboards throughout the property. "Purpleization" of the venue is already well underway and photos we'll post photos in the near future! The online home, www.RoyalPurpleRaceway.com, will be effective Jan. 1, 2011.
This weekend the Fourth Annual USMTS Texas Winter Nationals will be held Nov. 18 - 20 and is one of the last events of the season before the holidays.
