Royal Purple®, a manufacturer of high-performance synthetic lubricants, today
announced it will begin offering its popular five-quart bottles of fully
synthetic SAE motor oil exclusively through O’Reilly Auto Parts stores.
O’Reilly
Auto Parts will begin to transition from the one-gallon containers of Royal
Purple it previously carried, to the new five-quart containers,
immediately. By March, each of O’Reilly’s 3,613 stores will stock 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30
viscosities, with 0W-20 oil available as a special order from O’Reilly’s
warehouse.
The
five-quart bottles provide a cost, convenience and environmental benefit for
consumers interested in changing their own oil. Modern cars and trucks require
anywhere from 4 to 12 quarts of oil. Instead of purchasing and storing multiple
single-quart containers, consumers can now leave their local O’Reilly store
with the easy-to-carry packaging at a savings of about 4 percent per quart.
The
new bottles will maintain Royal Purple’s
signature purple bottle and yellow cap with embossed Royal Purple® logo. For those concerned with the environment, the larger
packaging requires less of the easily recyclable High-Density Polyethylene
(HDPE) plastic to manufacture than five of its single quart counterparts.
“We’ve
seen a significant increase in demand from consumers for the five-quart
packaging as vehicle specifications have changed over the years,” said National
Retail Accounts Manager, Jared Martin. “O’Reilly was our first retailer to
express interest in carrying the larger packaging, even before we decided to
make it available. We think the financial, environmental and convenience
factors of having a five-quart bottle are paramount to the consumer and we look
forward to making the optional packaging available through other retailers in
the coming months, after our year-long exclusivity agreement with O’Reilly
concludes.”
