Filming Fast Cars For The Forum Wars 2, Pt. - 1

Early weather predictions of rain and a 10 degree drop in temperatures swayed The Forum Wars 2 production team to move the two day shoot to one last weekend. At 6 a.m. last Saturday morning, the competitors rolled up to Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, TX for what was expected to be a long day of events and interviews.

You may not be familiar with The Forum Wars. The inaugural season featured 10 match ups that took smack talkers out of the forums and challenged them to prove they had what it took on the track. The series launched at the beginning of April, and ran through the beginning of June. The 5-6 minute websiodes were released on a home site www.theforumwars.tv and were also posted on Facebook, YouTube, Streetfire.net, Cardomain.com and Vimeo.

No one likes to lose, but some forums took exception to the drivers who represented them in the first season. So in prepping for Season Two, after the match ups wish list was conceived and confirmed, the production company seeded the various forums, asking the forum members to nominate their best drivers.

Nominations closed Dec. 25, 2010 and the following forums were represented in Season Two: EvolutionM.net, nasioc.com, ViperAlley.com, corvetteforum.com, Stangnet.com, my350zz.com, 8thcivic.com, mazdaspeedforums.org, camaro5.com, challengertalk.com, m3post.com, mbworld.org, nagtroc.org, luxuryforeplay.com, fordgtforum.com, dalasracing.net and dfwautoclub.com. Srt10forum.com showed, but nloc was nowhere to be found. That was a bummer, because the Lightning vs. SRT-10 Ram match up would have been a first for the series and some great competition.

Thanks to the hard work of the team at Schiefer Media, The Forum Wars Season 2 was able to announce sponsors including Royal Purple, Magnaflow, Mothers, Eibach and Falken Tires. Various prizes were awarded to the winners of each match and the overall winner of the event.

Events: 1/4-mile drag race, autocross road cross and slalom.
Event rules:
All cars must use UTQG140 or higher and run same tires for all events.
One driver for all three events.
No tuning or adjustments between events.

The first event was the drag race. Royal Purple Raceway hosts several premiere events during the season including the O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals and filming of PINKS All Out. Cars were paired based on existing rivalries between forums, similar car types, mods and performance. The racers ran the track three times. According to observers of the drag race portion, two of the most exciting match ups were the GTR vs. Porsche and Toyota Supra vs. GT1000. Sorry, but you'll have to watch to find out who won those show downs!

Tomorrow - Part 2! Stay tuned!
