A look back at Royal Purple in 2010

What a great year 2010 has been for Royal Purple! Thanks to the hard work of everyone at Royal Purple from the front to the back of the house and all of our worldwide distributors and dealers, Royal Purple has continued to be a leader in the synthetic lubricant market in both our automotive and industrial sides. Of course we would not have any success without our loyal Royal Purple consumers, and for those of you who are new this year, "Welcome Aboard!"

RP & several local organizations and business donated to The Sunshine Kids.

Big Screen
We had exciting integrations into two feature films, Iron Man 2 starring Robert Downey Jr. and Salt with Angelina Jolie. Okay, so we ended up on the cutting room floor for IM2, but here in Porter, we were able to share our advanced screening with some awesome Sunshine Kids and their families. They were treated to a "red carpet" experience complete with red carpet, back drop, professional photographer and goody bags! Being able to provide the kids and their families a special evening was a blessing to us all! If you were in the theater with us when we viewed Salt, the audience broke out into applause when during a major chase scene, Angelina jumped onto the box truck with the RP logo on it and escaped the agents who wanted to take her in!

Going Viral
In April we launched The Forum Wars, a online webisode series that featured 10 match ups with drivers and cars representing various forums. If you talk smack in the forums, can you bring it on the track? Each episode was 5-6 minutes long featuring drag race, timed course and figure 8 in the event of a tie. Episodes were posted on various sites including Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, and in addition to the main page at We will be filming the second season next weekend and expect to see the new episodes debut in the spring!

Racing Takes Off
Royal Purple had a successful season with the Stark Motor Racing team with Melissa Paris, David Hope, Chris Prey and Stephan Verdier. Each racer had their racing vehicle wrapped with Stark Motor Racing, IM2 and Royal Purple branding. Royal Purple was the title sponsor of the NASCAR Nationwide Series Royal Purple 200 at Darlington in May. RP's own Jared Martin served as the Grand Marshall for the race. RP will once again be title sponsor for the race in 2011. Royal Purple also saw several years of work in the making come to fruition with the announcement that Houston Raceway Park located in Baytown, would be named Royal Purple Raceway as of 1/1/11. Other partnerships this year include sponsorship at 3 Palms Extreme Race Park in Houston, Official Oil Supplier for Bertil Roos Racing School and continued sponsorship of Ring Brothers and the Tjin Edition Roadshow.

Black Beauty
Royal Purple went to SEMA in Las Vegas in Nov. with The Green Hornet's Black Beauty as the centerpiece of their booth. The Black Beauty toured across the United States as part of The Green Hornet Tour sponsored by Royal Purple. The Green Hornet will be the first feature film of 2011 that will have RP integration. The Green Hornet Tour experience included The Black Beauty car, Harley Davidson Muscle motorcycle, and 3D viewing experience.

Get into the Game
Royal Purple got into gaming on several levels including branding in racing apps - Gameloft's Asphalt 6, Ratrod Studio's Drift Mania and EA's Need for Speed World, the first MMORG game in the popular NFS series. We also released our own app called iRev that challenges your gearhead ear.

New & Improved
Several of our products got new looks and some had formulation upgrades. A new proprietary bottle was introduced on the market with a new embossed bottle and updated label. Purple Ice had formulation upgrades and also underwent a packaging change. RP's ultra-light viscosity racing oil XPR 3.1 is not only available in 5-gallon pails, but also in 1-gallon containers. Our R&D department continues to work to bring our consumers the high performance and quality products our loyal users rely on. Look for more new products in 2011!

Seal of Approval
Royal Purple synthetic motor oil was awarded the Parent Tested Parent Approved Seal of Approval. Panelists selected by PTPA were sent product appropriate for their vehicle and based on the panelists' experience, approval was awarded. RP motor oil earned 4 out of 5 stars by the reviewers.

Social Media
In conjunction with the launch of The Forum Wars in the spring, we launched our Royal Purple social media presence. We are on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and post to,, Vimeo and in Nov. our blog was launched. All of these social media outlets are great places to interact with RP, ask questions, and find other RP enthusiasts. Look for some great contests in 2011!

We look forward to the coming year for continued success, and health and happiness for our ever expanding Royal Purple family!
